PEN International & The Japan P.E.N. Club joint statement “Call for the freedom of expression in Myanmar and strongly demand the Immediate Release of Japanese journailist,Mr. Yuuki Kitazumi”

Mr.Yuuki Kitazumi, a Japanese journalist living in Myanmar, was arrested at his home by security authorities.
He was reported to have been transferred to the notorious Insein prison in Yangon prison.
We called on Myanmar’s armed forces to immediately stop the violent acts against its own people and to release all detained peaceful protesters from the prison immediately and unconditionally.
We call for freedom of expression and demand the protection of local and international journalists and reporters in Myanmar.
We urge Japanese government and International Communities to take immediate action to ensure the safety of Mr.Kitazumi.
